Mirror Mirror
Mirror, mirror on the wall,
I don’t think you know me at all.
Whilst you reflect the layer you see
Please realise there is more to me.
You cannot hope that frame and skin
Will let you read what lies within.
I’m fire and passion, soul and art,
Untamed spirit, giving heart.
And maybe beauty isn’t mine
(I do not match the term defined)
But flesh alone will not speak for me;
I’m a book, come read my story.

Twas The Night Before Giftmas
Twas the night before giftmas, when all the shops closed,
Fairylights twinkled as the Christmas moon rose.
The curtains ajar, let in slivers of light
Illuminating stockings hung that Yule Eve night.
The children were quiet, there wasn’t a peep.
Boys and girls everywhere attempted to sleep
Knowing that while in the land of their dreams
They’d wake to see Old Father Christmas had been.
The night it was crisp, the sky full of stars,
Jack Frost had glittered all rooftops & cars
Not a soul stirred as the moon shone on high
Then quite without warning, bright sparks lit the sky.
Jingle bells tinkled around reindeers necks.
I got out of bed and reached for my specs.
I silently screamed because I stubbed my toe
But then I saw chap in the garden below.
With sturdy black boots, he was dressed all in red;
A bobble hat bobbled on top of his head.
He stopped at each house and climbed down from his sleigh
Leaving magic behind him, then up up away.
He was quick as a flash, dashing in dashing out
Leaving the world irrefutable doubt
That there was a soul who found all their joy
In leaving surprises for good girls and boys.
I must have disturbed him. He looked right my way
But before I could speak, he did quietly say
“You haven’t seen me, I haven’t seen you.
Now, how would you fancy a present or two?”
I grinned at him shyly, and he grinned right back
Before whipping a dazzling gift from his sack.
“It is just what you wanted. You’ll love it, you’ll see.
For now I’ll just pop it right under this tree.”
Then he filled up the stockings, ate his mince pie
Took carrots for Rudolph and said “Gotta fly.
I’ve got spaces to fill and places to be;
There’s millions of children still waiting for me.
He spurred on the reindeer. He winked and he waved.
“Remember I’m checking to see who’s behaved.”
“I believe in you Santa!” and he swooped out of view.
“The feeling is mutual. Merry Christmas to you!”

The Universe Got Your Back
There’s a myriad of voices
That are swirling in your mind,
Judging all your choices,
Questioning how you spend your time
And while society conditions us
To live a certain way,
The world is not that black & white;
There are many shades of grey.
You can have a go at anything
If you set your mind to it.
You don’t need to ask the cosmos;
Just decide, and then pursue it.
Though if you listen carefully
When you’re on the right track
You might hear the universe whisper
“Go get it! I got your back.”

Of kindness and calm.
Life need not be a battle
Where we merely survive.

The world prizes possession
As a yardstick of success
Adulating those with plenty
And berating those with less
But perhaps this view is folly
And what sets us apart
Is not the things we own

When I go to sleep at night
Bathed in stars and palest light
I know an angel guards my room;
You might know him as the moon.
Without fail, as sun does set
My dreams and I are gently met
To be looked over all the way
Until we meet each bright new day.

So, I am a few months into my Etsy Entrepreneurship journey now. I have made 9 sales so far.
While this isn’t a landslide amount of sales, I am a firm believer in slow and steady wins the race. And in terms of race length, this is a marathon and not a sprint.
I am looking forward to my next sale, which will take me into double figures.
For now, I’m all about analysing what is working best and then hopefully working towards making more of that!

An earthquake is a grand event
It changes land and life.
The aftershocks that follow
Cause as much, if not more, strife.
A thunderclap will rumble
After lightning strikes the ground.
Its laser devastation
Can be heard for miles around.
First comes the impact,
Next comes the pain.
It’s impossible to stay dry
When faced with driving rain.
But the sun still shines beyond our sights.
Though rain clouds stay a- while
So when your raindrops hit the ground

I could never hope to find
Someone who fits me better.
